You made a great little speech and communicated your message very effectively. Ayesha should have skipped the suffering point as you already conveyed it and instead she should have focused on helping suffering families to fight with this disease.
Right, we had that in mind when we wrote our speeches on the night before this show.. but we couldn’t prepare so we thought that we will read from the paper.
But the organizers there asked us to put papers away. So after my speech everyone became very emotional and because of that she completely missed the train of thoughts and couldn’t deliver the speech. If she or I had requested them before her speech to give her a moment or two to clear the mind.. get a glass of water or something then she might have delivered a better speech (she is a better speaker than me after all).
The good thing is that the bill I was talking about in my speech is either already passed.. OR it’s on verge of getting passed because a friend of mine recently saw a banner that mentioned that bill and that it’s required to have those tests before marriage, but he don’t remember the words unfortunately.. I have asked him to verify it for me.

Salman, I don’t think any such bill has been passed yet. I also think that passing the bill would be easier, implementing it would be very difficult. Government should put more resources on implementing the bill. As you must have remember how dr. Adeeb Rizvi along with several NGOs and his personal contacts succeeded to get the bill passed regarding the implantation of organs.
It was wonderful to see you two on television spreading the message. I am so proud of you two and that I know you guys.
Yes I found out, those banners were placed by some private organization.. and I agree about putting pressure on government. But we don’t have any links or contacts to do it. We are trying to convince Bloggers to help us in this cause.
As you might know today is Thalassemia Day (may 8th), it’s organized yearly to aware people about thalassemia.. inshaAllah one day it will be organized just to remember what thalassemia was. inshaAllah.
I am going to post an audio recording of a little message Ayesha delivered on FM 103 today.
